LO4: Explore the feasibility for further development of the main character in future stories across different media formats (film, animation, Gaming, TV etc).

Film: Fisker has possibility as an animation/animated film but not as a real life or 'live action' film. This is because of the anthropomorphic nature of the comic, it would be difficult to create outside of an animated form and if done would look weird and tacky in CGI. People would be deterred based on films in the past such as the live action Cats movie which was a flop due to the weird mixture of anthropormophised  .

Animation: Having an animation follow on from the Fisker comic would e the most sensible choice due to the similarity between animation and comic forms of media. An animation would ultimately be a series and would feature a lot more content about the character and the city than a film would be able to do. Also due to the supernatural and magical aspects I want to include further down the line (which are alluded to in the comic) an animation would be able to express these ideas more vividly and in-depth.

Gaming: A game continuing on from the Fisker comic would also be an appropriate choice the target audience of the comic is 15+ meaning that the majority of people interested in the comic would be interested in playing a video game. They would also have enough time to invest into playing an open world kind of game like Batman: Arkham Asylum.

TV: Similar to the idea of a film it would have to be in an animated style opposed to live action based on the genre and style of the comic. Meaning that Fisker would be a cartoon TV show if made into one. Based on the similarity with the animation there could be two separate paths. One is a straight to streaming platforms (such as Netflix or Disney+) animated show or a less graphic cartoon on TV. Based on the changing of people's watching habits where people prefer fully online 24/7 content a Netflix or Disney+ animation adaptation.

LO3: Moodboard for the look/feel of the finished comic/graphic novel

This mood board is a mixture of the feeling of the city Rodentia, Arsenics attire and the feelings you perceive from him. The pills signify his past as a drug runner and also how now he refuses to take the Soothe pill and becomes more violent. The puppet and talisman are meant to inspire enigma and an intellectual puzzle (Rick Altman 1999) as the audience has yet to see any proper magic or items other than the Blood Mite that Arsenic uses to locate the blood. But works as a prelude for what may come in comics further down the road.

LO4: Justification of how the visual style of my final product follows the conventions of graphic novels or comics in its genre

Here both Batman and Arsenic are perched on a rooftop/building edge looking over their respective cities. This is a clear parallel between the two characters and shows that they both wish to achieve peace by any means necessary. Batman wears a long cape whilst Arsenic wears a long trench coat. The costumes are to create enigma and makes it easier for them to hide their identity. Arsenic wears a gas mask whilst Batman uses his own custom Batman mask. The only difference is the symbolism and the status. Batman has the funds and the means to be able to create his own costume that is able to protect him and shield his identity. Meanwhile Arsenic is a makeshift hero, and has yet to make himself a symbol of peace or fear like Batman, however it would be very possible for this to be the case further down the line. The drop into the action is also common of the genre and therefore when the audience is dropped into a brand new location and introduced to a brand new character they are immediately hooked with anticipation.

LO4: Colour & Style plan for background/environments used in the comic/graphic novel.

I used a colour scheme comprised mostly of dark moody colours such as grey, dark grey, dark green, black and dark brown. This is done to signify the fact that the comic is set in a nighttime storm. The dark colour scheme also helps me match the codes and conventions of my genres of mystery/vigilante/crime and thriller. Similarities of my colour scheme to other comics in the genre can be seen in Venom, Punisher, Constantine and Batman comics. Similarities of my background environments can also be seen as Batman and Venom are often perched upon rooftops like Arsenic is the beginning to get a better scope of the city. This shows therefore that despite Arsenic being an anti-hero type vigilante the city is precious to him and it is under his protection.

I have used striking colours such as blue, red and purple to juxtapose the darkness of the city, it helps captivate the audience and makes them more aware of a bright object. This means that when the blood appears on the street that it creates a stronger shock factor for them. Blood is a common 'prop' type in the genres of comics I used as inspiration as well as it connotes violence and death.

The yellows I used for light sources began to dim over time in the comic. This was a purposeful choice and was done to connote Arsenic moving further into darkness and closer to evil. It also shows him physically moving further into the slums of the city as the damage to the structures also increases over time. This creates a parallel between the destruction of the city and the evil of the city showing that the further into the slums you go the more unruly and violent a place it becomes.

In the panel above I hadn't added any background or shading to the scene and instead had kept the background unaltered or neutral

LO3:Character Biography for the chosen original characters

Fisker: Fisker was brought up in the middle of the slums alongside many brothers and sisters. His parents had their attention split between far too many children to give him ample love and attention. Due to the amount of mouths to feed he, like the rest of siblings, were forced to work from a young age. Starvation, stress, and disease were rampant and many died. Eventually Fisker and a few of his siblings started working with the criminal underbelly of the city, as drug dealers and runners. He hated it but the money made it worthwhile. When his plant was discovered and breached by police in a split second decision he swapped sides and aided them in their investigation. The detective on the case (Magnus Sleaker) saw his potential and suggested training to become his partner. He went through training and two years later became his partner. This didn't last. Years later the kingpin of the drug company he had worked for discovered his betrayal and attempted to kill Fisker. Fisker's partner in an act of self-sacrifice took the bullet and died instead. Fisker's emotion and revenge seeking clouded his judgement and got him kicked off the force for a brutalist attitude. Soon after he became a P.I. and developed his night-time persona Arsenic.

Arsenic: Arsenic is also known as Rat Poison showing that this persona is an anti-hero type and is a dichotomy of Fisker during the day. After Fisker stopped taking the Soothe pills (intended for all omnivorous and carnivorous animals to take to quell their violent urges.) His judgement became incredibly clouded and violence overtook him at night. He is a judge-jury and executioner type character who disregards the normal course of justice and the idea of 'appropriate force' and only cares about retaliation. I.e., making bad people pay. Arsenic is still a similar to Fisker and therefore maintains his whit and banter, hence why he still talks aloud.

Magnus Sleaker: Will be mostly seen in hallucinations and flashbacks from Fisker/Arsenic due to him being dead for years where the comic begins. He was one of if not the top detective in the Rodentia Police Department. He was part of a major drug bust operation. Fisker happened to be working in the plant at the time and switched sides aiding the police and detectives in their investigation and later on in questioning. His sentence was reduced to a mere three months of community service after this Sleaker offered Fisker a job as a trainee. After two-three years of training and education he became Sleakers partner. After four years working however disaster struck, the drug-lord that Fisker had previously worked for, had set up shop again and when they began investigating them, they uncovered who Fisker was. In order to get revenge the drug-lord put out a hit on Fisker, but Sleaker got in the way. Sleaker died in place of Fisker and the drug-lord didn't hang around to check who they had shot.
